Here are some more results of tests on the 24-105mm f4-7.1 IS STM. * After about 500 shots single AF accuracy is close to 100% on the RP. * I tested servo AF at 4 fps with a person walking towards the EOS RP but quite close so there was quite a large focus change between frames. 96% of frames were tack sharp.
Since a refurb 24-105 is currently $719 but has been on sale for as low as $599, getting my lens fixed for half this seems reasonable, unless maybe I should get the newer 24-105 f4 L IS II upgrade instead? But then, I've heard that the version II 24-105 doesn't provide a huge improvement over the older version.

Just this morning, before seeing your graphs, I superimposed these same graphs for the GM 24-70mm f2.8 and the new FE 24-105mm f4. I was considering the 24-105 for traveling. After reviewing the charts, I decided to stick with the GM lens and just crop files at the long end.
1. I have used the Canon 24-105 f4L and Sigma 24-105 f4 ART and found the Sigma to be the better lens. Since there isn't much difference in IQ between the two Canon lenses the same probably holds for the II version. The Sigma lens is built like a tank, is butter smooth to operate and build quality is excellent.
